Who is SEIU UHW?

SEIU-UHW.ORGHealthcare workers in California have been represented by SEIU Local 250 in Northern California and SEIU Local 399 in Southern California since 1934 when healthcare workers at San Francisco General Hospital became the first in the United States to form their union.

SEIU United Healthcare Workers-West was formed in 2005 after the members of Local 250 in Northern California and Local 399 in Southern California overwhelmingly voted to unify. Our 140,000 members work in every facet of the healthcare industry, including hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and homecare. UHW's mission is to unite all healthcare workers to change their lives and to win universal access to quality healthcare for all children, women and men.
